West Yorkshire Mayor's Question Time
Do you have a question you would like to ask the Mayor of West Yorkshire?
Tracy Brabin is hosting her first series of question time events. This is your opportunity to meet your West Yorkshire Mayor and ask her a question about issues that affect your community.
Hosted by an independent journalist, these events offer people of West Yorkshire the chance to hear directly from the Mayor, who will answer questions posed by you, her West Yorkshire constituents. We’ll also discuss local, regional and national issues as well as hear about how her pledges are progressing and future plans for West Yorkshire.
You can ask the Mayor about anything that falls within her role. The Mayor is responsible for specific functions of the Combined Authority that are ‘Mayoral Functions’, which include transport related functions, housing and planning functions and finance powers. She is also responsible for functions of the Police and Crime Commissioner and supported to deliver these by an appointed Deputy Mayor for Policing and Crime, Alison Lowe OBE, who will also be in attendance at the event.
You can find out more about the Mayor's role and responsibilities in the FAQ section of this page or on our Combined Authority website.
The first Mayor Question time events took place in Wakefield, Halifax and Leeds at the beginning of the year. These events were supported by the Deputy Mayor for Policing and Crime, Alison Lowe, and Fatima Khan-Shaw, the Mayor's Inclusivity Champion, and were well attended by residents who asked questions on various topics including, public transport, climate and biodiversity, safety, devolution, economic growth.
Our next events will be hosted in Kirklees and Bradford. You can find out more details about these events, and how to register, below.
All events will have BSL Interpretation and are organised in accessible location. The events are being recorded, with vide recordings being posted online with subtitles in the days following the events.

Registering attendance and submitting your question
Tickets and questions must be booked and submitted in advance. This is so that we can ensure that the venue is prepared for all ticketholders and that the event runs smoothly.
The questions submitted will be reviewed and shortlisted by the independent host who will ensure that the questions cover a broad range of topics. We encourage you to submit your question as early as possible so that the host has time to fully consider it before shortlisting the questions that will feature at the event. If time permits, there may be a possibility to ask a question on the night too.
You can book a ticket up to midnight on the day before the event.
Protocol for journalists attending the events
Journalists are welcome to attend these events. However, please note that these events are for members of the public to directly ask questions to the Mayor, therefore we ask the journalists in attendance (other than the host) not to ask questions or provide comments. A Combined Authority Press Officer will attend each event and will be happy to answer any media questions.
Registering by telephone
Please call Metroline on 0113 245 7676 and they will take your details. A member of the team will then be in touch with you to take details of any questions you may wish to ask the Mayor, and to book your ticket.
