What is a Local Industrial Strategy?
The Local Industrial Strategy is a long-term plan for Leeds City Region, developed in partnership, based on facts and data about our local area.
It is designed to boost productivity and transform the City Region, building on our strengths, improving people’s skills and helping businesses grow while protecting the environment, so everyone can benefit from a strong economy.
In developing the evidence and policies, we have engaged with over 700 people at more than 40 events, working with regional, national and international stakeholders, as well as schools and youth groups.
The first phase of public engagement ran from 29 July – 30 August 2019 and we then invited feedback on the draft priorities for the Local Industrial Strategy. We expect to submit the final strategy to Government by the end of the year and for it to be published in Summer 2020.
The Draft Local Industrial Strategy:
In its current form, the LIS focuses on:
Supporting businesses
Boosting innovation
Skilled people in good jobs
Communities that work for all
We have collected evidence for each of these areas for Leeds City Region and this can be found in the Draft Priorities Pack.
