The Leeds Line is divided into two sections:

  • Leeds city centre has four options (labelled on the map as L1, L2, L3 and L4) and all these start from St James’s University Hospital.
  • South Leeds has three options (labelled L5, L6 and L7).

The Leeds Line will connect people between St James’s University Hospital and the White Rose via Leeds city centre, forming a single continuous route. One route option from the Leeds city centre section and one from the South Leeds section will be combined to form the preferred overall route for the Leeds Line.

These options aim to connect key landmarks and offer a range of benefits, such as better access to hospitals, jobs, universities, and colleges. They also offer the opportunity to enhance our beautiful green spaces.
  • route option one (L1) via East Parade and Infirmary Street. It is shown on the map below in turquoise
  • route option two (L2) via East Parade (northbound) and Park Row (southbound). It is shown on the map below in light green
  • route option three (L3) via Cookridge Street and Park Row. It is shown on the map below in black
  • route option four (L4) via Regent Street and The Headrow. It is shown on the map below in purple
For the South Leeds section, our three route options aim to enhance connections from the city centre to the White Rose Shopping Centre, supporting retail, leisure destinations, nearby business parks and promoting housing and development, as the South Bank and other regeneration areas grow.
  • route option five (L5) via Dewsbury Road. It is shown on the map below in light blue
  • route option six (L6) via Elland Road, Elland Road Stadium and Ring Road Beeston. It is shown on the map below in red-brown
  • route option seven (L7) via Gelderd Road, Lowfields Road, Elland Road Stadium and Old Lane. It is shown on the map below in dark green
