This consultation is now closed.

This consultation ran between 27 August and 8 October 2024 and has now closed. We are analysing the responses received and will publish a consultation outcome report of our findings soon.

We are working in partnership with Leeds City Council on proposals to improve cycling, public transport, and pedestrian safety between Leeds City Centre and St James Hospital, on a 1km route along Burmantofts Street and Beckett Street. Proposals aim to speed up bus journey times between the city centre and the hospital and make it safer, easier and more convenient for people to travel in greener and healthier ways like walking, wheeling and cycling.

Previous consultation was undertaken in 2019 as part of the Leeds Public Transport Programme (LPTIP). The 2019 consultation focused on bus-priority measures and there was overall support for the proposals. However, no further design development was undertaken at this time. Government funding has now been awarded for the scheme which includes proposals to prioritise bus routes along Burmantofts Street and Beckett Street, two-way protected cycle routes, and safer pedestrian crossings.

You can read more about the proposals by visiting Leeds City Council’s consultation site here: www.beckettstreet.commonplace.is

We want to hear your thoughts on these proposals to improve the way you travel between the city centre and St James's Hospital. This will help us prioritise improvements and make this area a more welcoming place for travelling through and spending time in.
