The West Yorkshire Violence Reduction Partnership (VRP) brings together organisations across local communities, to tackle the underlying causes that contribute to serious violent crime.

Launched in 2020, the VRP has a partnership emphasis, working closely alongside specialists and the local community. You can engage in and inform our work directly through these groups.

This page lists some ways you can tell us your views about additional support you would like to see towards tackling serious violence in West Yorkshire.

Research and evaluation Research and Evaluation

We start by understanding the underlying causes and protective factors around serious violence and exploitation.

This includes a programme of research and evaluations, which help us develop an evidence base for our partnership response.

You can help shape our work.

Serious Violence Duty Consultations

We work in partnership using a framework on the Government’s Serious Violence Duty which we put in place through joint projects. Your voice has helped shape this process through our survey on safety issues, which ran from July - September 2023.

Thank you for taking an interest in sharing your views with us. Results from these surveys will be available in early 2024. If you have contributed to our survey on safety issues and would like to be kept updated, please get in touch: vrp@westyorks-ca.gov.uk

Stalking research

Addressing the issue of stalking is a VRP priority, and chimes closely with the Mayor’s pledge around the Safety of Women and Girls.

The team has been working in partnership with the University of Huddersfield’s Secure Societies Institute to support the knowledge exchange and community engagement on stalking. Get involved in our ongoing surveys and share your views:

The online SSI stalking survey closed on 21st July 2023, and is now being analysed. The report will be published here once available.

SSI stalking interviews - you can contact Dr Rosie Campbell for more information and to arrange an interview.
